Conference Host

Duneland School Corporation has partnered with The School City of Hammond as the host site for the South Shore Summer of Learning at Duneland Conference. Our event is going to be on June 6th and 7th at Chesterton High School. The conference is titled South Shore as a nod to us here in Northwest Indiana.

About the South Shore Conference

The South Shore Summer of Learning at Duneland Conference is one of eleven Summer of Learning Conferences around Indiana. We are offering a free two-day conference to educators throughout the Northern Indiana region. We are bringing in nationally renowned speakers and will offer a wide variety of sessions for participants to choose from. Attendees will be served breakfast and lunch and receive conference materials for two days. The conference will be held at Chesterton High School.

Attendance

Last year, the South Shore Summer of Learning Conference hosted over 900 attendees, 124 presenters, and 238 sessions. In previous years there were over 30 school districts represented, including Crown Point Community Schools, Duneland School Corporation, Gary Community Schools, Griffith Public Schools, Northwest Indiana Service Center, Lake Central School Corporation, Lake Ridge Schools, Portage Township Schools, School City of East Chicago, School City of Hammond, School Town of Highland, School Town of Munster, Tri-Creek School Corporation and local colleges Calumet College, IUN, Ivy Tech and PNW. We are anticipating that the change in location will not only allow us to sustain our conference’s turnout but also increase attendance!

Sponsorships needed

The IDOE provides some funds for conference speakers and logistics. Each host site must raise funds for food, drinks, prizes, etc. It is important to us that we keep this learning opportunity free for whoever would like to attend and maintain the high standards we have set forth in previous years. It is an opportunity to showcase what the “Region” has to offer with our hospitality and focus on education.
